Time to Get Active: London

14th June 2009 | Southwark Park

Ade Adepitan MBE (Scope Patron, actor, TV presenter and Paralympic wheelchair basketball champion) opened this sponsored event in Southwark Park, London.

We were blessed with lovely weather. We had between 60 and 70 people attending and were supported by representation from Southwark council. The event involved a 2.5km or 5km route and participants used various methods of getting around.

The event itself was a very enjoyable day out. We had a steel band, everybody completing the course received a medal and we were supported by Ade Adepitan who made a great speech to kick the proceedings off.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the day was David Bourroughs completing the 2.5km route using a trolley normally used to get around the house. It took around 2 hours for David to get around and the moment that he completed the route was something none of us who were there will forget.
