Day 4 – Mahansar to Dhingsari

From Mahansar we rode out and into the Thar Desert.

We stopped at Desnoke to visit the famous Rat Temple, the only place in the world where rats are worshipped. Take my word for it - rats are rats, temple rats included. They look the same and they smell the same. Enough said.

Riding on sand was a new experience for most of us. We slipped and snaked our way through, slowly at first. There were a few tumbles, but fortunately sand is soft to land on and everyone was OK. Then we speeded up and I began to enjoy it. For the first time I wanted to get off and try riding for myself.

That night we camped in tents in the desert. I was so tired I could have slept anywhere and a mat and blanket seemed very welcoming.
